BRIEF BIOGRAPHY FOR ROSIE MOTENE.

Celebrity Rosie Tebogo Motene is an accomplished actress in theatre, television and film, a TV soapy star and well known
presenter and Producer and a great MC. As a board member of (People Opposing Women Abuse) POWA, Childline and The
Tomorrow Trust and The Johannesburg Children's home, she is also involved in campaigning against women and child
abuse in South Africa. Rosie also supports the Global campaign for education and has written a personal story in the big
read which occurred in 2009

Rosie has been rated as one of SA's most stylish women and has graced the covers of many local and international
magazines.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Dramatic Arts (Honours) from The University of the Witwatersrand.


Theatre

Rosie has a background in dance, choreography, and theatre. Her theatrical credits include Janice Honeymon's TURKISH
DELIGHTS, Johnny Barbuzano's DEEP IN THE LOCA LALA and she performed leading roles in Dawn Lindburg's award winning
VAGINA MONOLOGUES production.

She was in John Kani's NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH sell out tour of Australia in 2005 the UK in 2007respectively. In theatres
in and  around the UK which kicked off in London playing to full houses and many standing ovations along with four star
reviews in the local news papers. A full length feature film of the exact same production has been shot with Rosie playing
the lead which was released in 2008. Since its release it has won various awards including one at the Durban Film festival.


Television and Film

Her television career started with her presenting INSTYLE, an SABC3, and South Africa, magazine programme dealing with
food, lifestyle, travel and entertainment.  She continued in this anchor TV role in the successful Studio 53 lifestyle show,
which dealt with the same elements but focusing only on the African Continent. Rosie was the studio anchor person as well
as filed reporter for five years running. In 2006, Rosie became one of the directors and producers for the show, a position
which she still holds now.

Rosie became a household name after landing a prominent role on the SABC1 soap GENERATIONS, which she carried for
five years.  

Rosie focus has moved from the small screen to the big screen. Rosie landed a role in the Academy Award nominated film
HOTEL RWANDA, starring Don Cheadle and Nick Nolte. Her second film, The OTHER WOMAN, was directed by Cindy Lee
and lensed by Lance Gewer who also shot the award winning film TSOTSI.  The OTHER WOMAN, produced in 2005 is the
first film with Rosie in the leading role.  Rosie has also performed in a British production titled WILD AT HEART. The series
runs on the ITV1 channel in the UK and in SA on the Hallmark channel.


Producer

Whilst working as a presenter on the television show Studio 53, Rosie was trained as a producer and director and currently
produces inserts for the programme. Rosie has also been involved in securing trade exchange agreements for the show
with Southern Sun hotel group and Arik airlines.

Rosie was also one of the producers on the South Africa film 'JESUS AND THE GIANT', directed by Akin Omotoso. The film
has played at many international film festivals, such as the Rotterdam Film festival 2009 and the Toronto Film festival 2008.


Public Status

Rosie is regarded as one of SA's best dressed women and has been nominated and won many awards including the award
for the most stylish media personality at the 2003 South African Style Awards. At the end of 2006, Rosie was rated amongst
the top five best dressed women in South Africa.

She has graced the covers and pages of many South African and international magazines, including Truelove, Cosmopolitan,
Marie Claire, Style, Joburg style and Destiny magazine, African Woman. In 2007, Rosie along with a number of other
African personalities featured in the internationally acclaimed VANITY FAIR MAGAZINE in an issue dedicated to Africa.

Rosie is also a household name on the African Continent.  In 2004 and 2005, she was the official Face of the, NAMIBIAN
AND UGANDAN FASHION WEEKS held in Windhoek, Namibia and Kampala, Uganda respectively.

In 2008 Rosie was nominated for the Shoprite/checkers Woman of the year awards. 

Rosie is an accomplished MC and has compeered a number of VIP functions both locally and internationally including the
IDC and NFVF dinner hosted at the Cannes film festival 2006, the 2008 Durban July Vodacom VIP paddock, as well as the
cross-continental Zain launch, which was broadcasted via satellite to 14 different African countries.

In 2009, Rosie co-hosted The Naledi theatre awards, held at the state theatre in Pretoria, South Africa. Dr Bill Dorfman,
made a philanthropic visit to South Africa and was hosted at a number of events, one being The Women's Forum for the
Tomorrow Trust, Rosie was the mc at this event.


Charities

Rosie Motene completed the volunteer training and public awareness course through POWA (People Opposing Women
Abuse) in 2003. Since then, Rosie has become actively involved in campaigning against women and child abuse in South
Africa and in 2008 was appointed to the board.

Through her campaigns, Rosie has worked closely with Y-Fm Open and Disclosure Campaign, Johannesburg Prison,
Maudabee Prison, in Springs and various schools and communities in and around South Africa. In 2004 Rosie was invited
to the University of Cape Town to deliver a speech on abuse and ways of curbing it and she shared the podium with the
Minister of Education, the Honourable, Ms Naledi Pandor.

In 2005 Rosie visited Uganda and addressed a group of individuals at two NGO's based in Kampala.

Rosie is also a key operator with the activities of Childline, Gauteng. In 2004, Rosie was appointed Chairperson, and works
closely with a strong management team in spearheading the activities of the organisation.
The Tomorrow Trust is an organisation which helps provide HIV/AIDS orphans with the educational and business tools to
create career paths for themselves. Rosie has joined this group and gives lifestyle and inspirational skills to the young girls
and now sits on the board of trustees.


Sponsorships

In 2008 Rosie was appointed as the brand ambassador for leading jewellery brand, Jenna Clifford, in conjunction with Ryk
Neethling and the Dream big campaign. She is also sponsored by Jeauval hair salon to keep her hair looking fabulous.

From 2004 to 2008 Rosie was driven by BMW, via a sponsorship deal from JSN BMW in Bryanston, making her the first non
sporting person and the first black woman to land such a deal. 

Rosie was also the official representative for First National Bank's, Million-A-Month-Account show.

Other Ventures

Rosie recently formed her own production company, ROSIE MOTENE PRODUCTIONS which produces content for television.
Within the company Rosie has also offers media and presenter training. . The training includes: how to maintain a good
posture and present yourself in the best way on and off camera, breathing techniques, vocal training, presentation to
camera, interview skills, wardrobe and the rules of the industry.
