STUDIO 53 WORKSHOP This year we were taken to Clarens in the Free State for a week. Here we bonded, laughed, ate, laughed and, well caught up. Yes we did a bit of work. Tracey Going gave us individual one on one sessions on our presenting skills. We also had producers meeting with The Head producers. The week was filled with fun and of course many more memories were created. CELTEL TO ZAIN IN ZAMBIA! The global cellphone network, CELTEL, changed their name and branding to ZAIN. Congratulations to ZAIN !! ....................................................................................................................................................................................... NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH - FEATURE FILM December 2006, I shot the feature film, NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH, alongside the fabulous Dr. Jon Kani and Motshabi Tyelele. The movie was shot in and around the KZN area of south Africa. The temperatures were high, the budget was tight but it's a story that I had to take part in telling. Directed by Ross Devernish. January 2007 the same cast departed for London to perform the theatrical version. We performed at the HAMPSTEAD THEATRE for a month. We were received with great reviews, standing ovations and nostalgic, homesick South Africans who reside in London. The other joys of the tour were meeting Emma Thomas who came to watch the performance. What a power woman. We were also invited to the SA house for a special cocktail party where bra Jon, gave a keynote speech. The snow!!!!! Wahoo, I woke at 7am one morning, ran outside my hotel and played in da street like a 5 year old child, what a blast. VANITY FAIR MAGAZINE / THE AFRICA CHANNEL When we returned, I continued my duties with Studio 53. Thank you to my colleagues who filled in for me whilst I was gone. Back in SA for six weeks, I managed to be selected as one of the African entertainers to be part of the internationally acclaimed VANITY FAIR, magazine. The issue was dedicated to Africa and contained well known personalities from across the continent. The shoot took place against the backdrop of the magnificent Table mountain, in Cape town, South Africa. Not was it only a pleasure being part of the shoot, but great friendships were created on that fabulous weekend. We were put up at the uber-chic Bay Hotel and were treated to Veuve, oysters and pure indulgence. NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH - STAGE PERFORMANCE Back to the UK! We continued our tour of the Uk beginning in New Castle. We toured for another two months, the places we visited were: West Yorkshire Playhouse in Leeds. The Lowry, Manchester The Birmingham repertoire theatre. The Peepul centre, Leicester The Nottingham Playhouse. The Cambridge Arts theatre. Once again great reviews, even more standing ovations and teary eyed audiences. The only downfall of the tour was my passport being stolen out of my hotel room in Cambridge. Thanks to the ever so efficient SA embassy in London, I received a temporary one immediately.
